I just want to wish everyone a merry Christmas and hope that you were all able to enjoy it. We were able to do a small service project in themiddle of town cleaning up the plaza. Im so grateful to be here on the mission sharing the meaning of Christmas with all those around. A video to remind us all why we serve.

les quiero mucho y estoy demasiada agradecida por ese oportunidad de servir al seƱor.

I love christmas. Like, more than ever. And although it doesnt really feel like christmas here Im trying to get in the spirit of things!! Ive been able to reflect on the purpose of it all. Especially when it comes to our Savior Jesus Christ. Although he was not born in this season, this is a time when we can think of His importance and the impact He has in our life. I am so very grateful for all that he has done and all that He continues to do.

The spirit of Christmas is so strong. And we need to act on it. In your little extra time, make a dinner for a family that might not have one, send a sweet message to a friend struggling, go out and sing christmas carols to share this vision of love. Whatever you do, do it for those around you. This is such a wonderful season and I am so happy to be a part of it here in Mexico. :)

Hopefully you have all heard about the the Christmas video on WATCH IT. Its great, and make sure to share it with everyone you know, I mean EVERYONE!! We need to share this vision with those around us, that through our Savior Jesus Christ we can be saved and lifted.

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal lifethrough Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Remember Him always. Dont lose sight. And remember that His grace is sufficient. (

We are finally getting support from the ward and its making the difference that we need. Im so happy to be here in the mission. Its molding me into someone I never knew I could be. Love you all.

31 And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself tothe earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Whyis it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad, and allthe people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I thyservant?

32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I havecommanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh isin my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.

33 Say unto this people: Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord Godwho made you.

Moses 6

Remember that His hands are the cause of everything. Love you all

I got a little punch in the face this last week on the amount of humility I have been lacking. I have put a lot of thought into who I am here, and who I represent. Also the fact that I can not do anything without the Holy Ghost. Basically, the hand of Lord is in all the success we have seen in the mission, and we forget who is really harvesting here, we will lose ourselves in pride. The mission is something that has changed me, and helped me and continues to help me realize what I need to do better. To repent. To change. To rely of our Heavenly Father more than ever. Without Him, I{m nothing. And I know that. I am so grateful for this transfer we just had, my companion is Hna Alcantara and shes from the Dominican Republic. She is superrrr upbeat and ready to work always! So we are working to strengthen this area(it really needs some tuning up...)
Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts. I continue to think about you all everyday. Remember your vision here on the Earth, we arent just here to have a family and live a little. We{re here to go to the temple, help others go to the temple, and especially go through the temple for those who have not ever had the chance. I am so grateful for this perfect gospel.

Monday, November 3, 2014

I have noticed more in this past week than ever, of how much I LOVE being here. Im not saying that this week was perfect or that it didnt have any downs. But I have just come to the conlusion that I would rather be here serving the Lord and being perfected in Christ than anywhere else. A wise elder once said, "The mission isnt a preparation for life, the mission is life." And this couldnt be anymore true. A lottttt of people I love and look up to are going home in these 2 upcoming transfers and its just made me relect on everything.
The mission is my life. It is my foundation to everything. It will forever and always be a part of me and I am forever grateful for this opportunity. I just pray that these next months wont go by too fast.
Please pray for our investigators! We have 2 baptisms scheduled for this upcoming sunday and we need all the support we can get! :) Thanks for everything. Les amo un buen, y ojala que todo esta bien.

Hna Waddell

This week was just super chill and also super good. I hope everything is going great over there. We got to go to Walmart today, that was a change of the little ol Atotonilco haha. My area is basically a mix of two scenes in Nacho Libre, one is the part when he meets Ramses the Luchador in the city, mixed with the scene when he runs off into the dessert and he starts eating from a cactus. Soak that in, and then youll realize what my area is like haha

a piece of my zone

and just me and my companion playing with our little newspaper wall setup. yup. Thats how we relieve stress haha

SORRYYYY for not writing more, ill just assume you guys dont have to much time either.

Love you!

So I dont know about you guys, but I absolutely lovedddd conference! Especially those super direct and a little bit risky talks directed towards lazy members of the church. Its about that time that people get their act together dont you think? Ya, me too. haha.
Welp, this week was full of spiritual experiences, and also full of just straight up bad days. Something that was said a few times in Conference was about the fact that we can{t have happiness unless we have misery. This is something as missionaries I think we learn in depth! But also it{s something we need to realize is extremely necessary. I{ll be quoting a few things from the conference in what follows... Decisions determine destiny...To obey is better than to sacrifice.. (Monson) We have this wonderful gift of agency that we should be using the way our Heavenly Father would have us do. "Our] decision to change is [ours] and [ours] alone." (Jorg Klebingat) We have so much counsel given us such as simple things like, prayer, scripture study, temple attendence regularly. These things aren{t going to kill us! They are going to help us grow into better, more obedient children of our loving Heavenly Father. We have this knowledge and this guidance. Now, "Turn [that] knowledge into action."(Eduardo Gavarret) ... "If [we] do our part, it will come, and it will be GLORIOUS." (Uchtdorff). I have a ton more of quotes and wonderful words from the people who shared with us at conference but there isn{t enough time in the world to share all my thoughts on them. Just remember, "The church is not for perfect people; it is for people to come unto Christ and be perfected in Him." (Uchtdorff)

I love you all and hope you are soaking up all of this counsel given from our Lord and God through our Prophet and leaders of the church. Study these things, apply them in your life. Good will come out of it, I can promise you that.

Con mucho amor,
Hna Waddell

we went and ate food with members in between conference sessions, and this was our form of transportation... felt like home.

orange is like the most common color for houses here. we were just trying to be hipster...

this truck passes by everymorning.. 50 oranges for 30 pesos. Its basically like 2 or 3 bucks for 50 oranges like, get at that.

We had a baptism this week! WHOOPPP. Ya that baptism with Pablo that fell through last week, welllll we had an awesome bombin lesson with him and he got baptized two days after!! It was really awesome. We had had the baptism scheduled at 4 but nobody was showing up.... so we were like ummmm.. what do we do? But he was super chill and not worried and then like the whole ward showed up at about 530 haha. It was definitely late, but it was awesome. Me and Hna Wible sang How Great thou Art and the spirit was super strong the whole time. Hes going to be such a good faithful member of the church!
And then they was a ward activity right after his baptism so it was almost like an extra celebration! It was awesome.
With our area being a little pueblo and basically everyone has heard from the missionaries its been a little slow. But we have set some goals and plans so that we can harvest this vineyard. It{s amazing the umph and motivation we can recieve when we start to see all the hard work pay off.
Ive been noticing a lotttttt in this transfer that I have a lot to work on, personally, and as a missionary in general. And Ive just been praying and praying trying to figure out how I could do it. Because there{s a lot and I dont know what to focus on first. But while I was studying this week I was looking at a scripture that theyre wanting us to memorize here in the mission. D&C 121:34-46. And it just hit me like a ton a bricks. I recieved the answer to my prayers. I had been so caught up in pride and focusing on what IM doing right or wrong and what I lack in the lessons and why arent people accepting MY message. ME ME ME ME. Well Ive been sadly wrong and mistaken by far. And I am gjoing to change. So that I am able to be a better instrument in the hands of God. Pride is a poison, but there is a cure.
Gracias por todo que hacen! Echela ganas y siguen adelante! Les amo vastante.

Hna Waddell

Some photos of the baptism and the activity. There was a member at the activity who brought a guitar. But he doesnt play, he just likes to walk around with it. hahaha. So I was refreshing my memory with some things. Turns out I basically dont remember anything. But ya know, whatever haha.

So a lot happened this week, I have two highlights good and bad. I{ll start with the bad.....
So Pablo didn{t get baptized yesterday like we had planned. There were some.....obstacles. He was super upset and crying and everything.... It was sad..But! We are working for this coming week! He has suchhh a desire to change and be a part of the Gospel. He so willing, its definitely a testimony builder. We realized that its better we make sure that everything is set in stone and really ready before he makes this decision in his life. Its just that in this ward we{ve realized that a LOT of people have been baptized here and then like right after, they go inactive. So we{re trying to avoiddddd that! But ya, that was the sad highlight. The HAPPY highlight is that we went to GUADALAJARA for the temple! It was so crazy. It took 5 hours to drive there without stops and when we went for the 6 in the morning to go in, there was a fat line outside of people waiting to go in! Turns out this temple is super small and its not always opened so when it is, its just PACKED. But at the end of things it was sooo nice to have the opportuinty to go in the temple during my mission. I missed that spirit and that peacefulness.
Oh ya, and, I hit 8 months today in the mission. Dont really know what I think about that, but it just shows how fast the time is flyinggggg. Im loving the mission. Seeing other people change for the gospel and also the person Im becoming as I learn from others around me. It{s a beautiful experience. Hard, but beautiful. I love you all and hope everything is going well in the real world :)

“Every one of us has times when we need to know things will get better. … My declaration is that this is precisely what the gospel of Jesus Christ offers us, especially in times of need. There is help. There is happiness. … Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. … It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come. … Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.” -Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

So today. well tonight. Is like basically the 4th of July that they have here. Its straight up fiestas all night. So we have to be in the house early.

this week was cool. We had a lot of good lessons and I think were ffinally starting to get to know the people here. I gave a talk on Sunday actually based off of a talk from Elder Holland. It was super powerful. I might have scared some of the members away. haha no. jokes. Pero ya, it went really well and Im glad I had the opportunity. I would send everyone a copy but its in spanish soooo...
Also, there was a stake activity. And oh my gosh. Our stake is HUGEEEEEE. And we got permission to go, but like last minute so I didnt bring my cameraaaa :((( but Im going to get some pictures from the other missionaries. But it was aweomse. Each ward was assigned a cultural dance from mexico and they all performed. And everyone brought food there, but the weird part is that they were all selling food there. Like... it wasnt like a potluck where everyone brings and shares. nope. Selling. Weird I know, but ya thats how it is here. But ya it was superrr fun! Our investigator Pablo came, and he{s going to get baptized this Sunday!!!! We're soooo excited for him. So please, everyone. KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS.

There was a horse parade yesterday getting ready for all the fiestas today. SO MANY HORSES. I want ahorse.

Us in la combi or bus

and thats my zone. Its huge.

So we{re starting to find people! Were working with themembers and contacting basically everyone and poco a poco we are going to see some success! Just a couple pictures from this week.

Our pet emma, dont be fooled by the picture she was basically as big as my face. (ok, exaggeration but it was big!)
The drink Im holding in my hand is the love of my life. Its called agua de nuez. Basically its pecan water and its delicious
And well thats just me with a marshmellow lollipop and our investigor Pablo in the background. Hes getting baptized in a month. So we{re pretty STOKED. :)

BIG NEWS: Also, next week Ill be going to the VERA CRUZ TEMPLE. Its kind of a weird story, but basically me and my companion are taking a road trip with President and his wife and its going to be AMAZING

but ya, Im kind of brain dead right now because we washed clothes for like 2 and a half hours. (we wash by hand here so just soak that visual in)

Love ya much!

So, we're here in the middle of NOWHERE in our new area, and I love it. And we're not even in the state of Mexico anymore..WHAT? Ya, we're in Hidalgo. Its like a million years away from everyone else in the mision haha. It's called Atotonilco or aka aPOLVOnilco. Polvo means like dirt... So its just drowning in dust and dirt here. its a really good thing I have glasses or Id probably have a desert in my eyes.
We dont really know anyone here because were opening the area so its been a little different but its going. We aren't even living in our area either, were living in different hermanas area because were waiting for another house in our area. I dont know, its just all super confusing. We dont even have pamphlets yet.. or a phone... So I dont know exactly how weve been getting away with that, but we're just waiting for it all to come in.
My companion Hermana Fondeur is from the Domican Republicccc! And her name is french, and she wants to be an actress, and she appreciates all forms of art like me, so we're basically going to get along superrrr well. Shes a little bit in culture shock Im pretty sure, but she'll get used to it.

Exchanges at the offices are always fun

And a sweeeeet photo of my companion in front of our super cool yellow stainglass door we have in our kitchen. Ya. That's art.
