I love you all. I honestly dont know how Im feeling. But I know that this church is true. That Jesus is the Christ. That through Him we can be forgiven and we can have eternal life. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and goes hand in hand with the Holy Bible. And I know that God loves me.

"Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full."

Just a miracle of the week.
When we visit one of the less actives here she always has a brother there in her house that has had problems with drinking for YEARSSSS. He always just kind of off in his own little world and we never really bother him.
This past week we invited him to listen, he did. Maybe he wasnt completely there understanding everything but he did express to us his desire to be closer to God.
We set an appointment, and part of this we challenged him to not drink not even one drop of alcohol until we had the appointment. It would be 4 days after. He accepted the challenge and we left.
Honestly in that 4 day period I was sure he had drank alcohol...

oh ye of little faith....

We went to the appointment we had set..

He was sober.

This man had kept his word, and after (if im not mistaken) 20 years of drinking almost every day, he went 4 days without. Now it might seem like small progress, but I say it was a leap of faith that he took. We invited him to do the same until his next visit, and I have the hope that he is keeping to his word. As he does this, in the lessons we have he understands more and really has the true desire to change and be better.
I know that our Savior helps us see miracles. I know through Him only can we change our weaknesses in to strengths, and I know that I need Him more than anything. Especially in this moment in my life. He can strengthen me and give me the comfort that I need.

Love you all,
all is well in the promised land.

Okay, what a week filled of so called "lasts".
We had our leadership council and zone meeting this week. Its sad to think they are the last I will be in. (until I serve a mission with my husband of course) But they were definitely spirit filled meetings where I felt I was able to be edified and lifted.
Something I have been working on this week is "The Elder Bednar Pattern".

Pattern of Learning and Teaching: Elder Bednar
I pray that all who participate will receive inspired answers to their questions. In preparation, I invite you to consider the following:
1. Prepare to learn. Before you take part, I encourage you to make time to study, ponder, and pray so that your heart will be open to hear the messages the Lord has prepared for you to hear.
2. Interact to edify. As you participate and actively listen to others, you can be edified through the teaching, testifying power, and confirming witness of the Holy Ghost.
3. Invite to act. After the event is over, ask yourself this question: “What will I do with what I have learned?”
If you will ponder and act on these invitations, you will receive inspiration suited to your life. The Lord is preparing messages for you to hear. I invite you to prepare yourselves to hear them.

Okay, so above is the pattern of elder Bednar..
I have noticed in this past week the importance of this pattern that Elder Bednar has taught us. When we prepare spiritually as did the 5 virgins with their lamps of oil we will be able to not only edify others but be edified ourselves in the process.
We were able to have a couple experiences that I liked in particular. While visiting a less active and teaching her about the Plan of Salvacion we asked her continually what she was learning while we talked about this. Her answers were never exactly about what we had said but they were related. I asked her how she had learned these things if we hadnt even talked about them specifically, she just replied "Pues supongo de Dios...¿no? mediante su espiritu..."(I guess from God, right? Through the Holy Ghost...)
We then reminded her that we are not the teachers, we are only here to testify and invite the TRUE teacher so that we can all learn and be edified together. What she had learned was personal. And what she had learned came from God.
After this brief explanation we were able to extend the question and invite her to act "Based on what you have learned today, what are you going to do?" She was then able to come up with her own committment. We didnt even have to think of it or drag her to think of something. On her own, through the help of the Holy Ghost she was able to recognize what she needed to change in that moment in her life.
I have come to realize more and more everyday what my responsibility is and why I am here. I know that the spirit is the teacher. And I know that He can only help us when we are spiritually prepared to invite the teacher.

Les quiero mucho,
All is well in the promised land.

Okay, Im sorry Im horrible at writing but any of you who have been on a mission you know how it is.
Well I{d just like to start off with the fact that this is the Lords work. And we are nothing without Him. I have seen His hands working countless miracles that I cant even describe.
We have been working to catch up with the Lord and His fast rythmn. I know that for this reason He has been blessing us to be able to see these miracles.
This past Saturday we were able to see 4 people that we found (prepared by the Lord in a way you cant imagine) be baptized. Everything you can think of was going wrong preparing for the baptism. Literally, everything. BUT do not fear, future converts are here... ready to make this convenant with our Heavenly Father so they can enter into the path that leads to eternal life.
I know that testimonies dont just come from other people repeating them in front of us. I remember in Highschool when I had my moments of doubt and I would sit in sacrament meeting on fast and testimony Sunday... I didnt understand why everyone said "I know I know IKNOW.." When I didnt really get the point. I felt that it was all good, but I couldnt quite figure out if I KNEW really KNEW if these things were true...
Bearing a testimony is the only way we can obtain one.
Just like the children of Israel as they were crossing the river Jordan. They were told that it would be opened for them, but did they just sit around waiting on the shore until the waters were opened? No. The waters were opened when they got their feet wet.
I know this church is true. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what guides us to eternal life and happiness. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and I could do or be nothing without Him. I love the mission. It is a part of me now, and it will be a part of me forever.

All is well in the promised land.

The miracle of the week that taught us the wise lesson of, "You get what you asked for"... but in a good way!
We had been praying so much to find someone that the Lord was preparing to be baptized. We even made jokes that it would be so crazy if one day a family just showed up in the ward, had their asistencias en la capilla and told us, "Hey weve been going to church and were not members because we havent had the opportunity to be baptized, could you help us?" Obviously we were just joking around because that seems to be a situation almost impossible to come by.... The Lord proved us wrong.
There is a family of less actives who have been reactivating in the church, we thought they were all members... WRONG. There turns out to be 4 people, two moms and her sons, who we realized while talkign to them, that THEY ARENT MEMBERS AND WANT TO BE BAPTIZED.
While teaching one in her home her excitment and NECESITY to be baptized was amazing. I just remember her prayer clearer than ever... "Gracias Padre porque por fin.......(starts to cry) podemos hacer este convenio contigo que hemos querido hacer por tanto tiempo...." or in English "Thankyou Father, because finally.....(starts to cry)... we can make this convenant with thee that we have wanted to make for a very long time..." This experience touched me so much.
It was a miracle. I was able to gain an even stronger testimony of how the Lord is the one hastening HIS work. And His work is beautiful.
Its overwhelming thinking that this will be my last transfer. But I know it will be a good one, and I will continue seeing miracles as long as I do the Lords will. The people here need my love and my diligence so that Heavenly Father can lead them in the right path. My companion is getting transferred and thats kind of sad, but the new one coming will be awesome as well! I already know her somewhat well, Hna Ortega from the Dominican Republic. Shes a fun one!

Also we got to go to a super awesome place today calle Arcos de sitio! So pretty! And also el pueblo magico Tepozitlan which has a big detailed catholic church that is really pretty on the outside.

This week was a week of reflexion. As members of the church or otherwise we are expected to take advantage of the tools we are given, to remember our duties, and to always continue learning and bettering. We should not get too caught up in things that do not matter. has so many things that can elevate and motivate.

We have so many tools... use them.

May 18th 2015

So as I mentioned last week, we had a special visitor in our mission... Elder Bednar one of the 12 Apostles and Elder Valenzuela of the Seventy. It was an experience that edified us all. I was able to sit in the front row about 5 steps away from him. We didnt get the opportunity to meet him for lack of time, but it was incredible.
It wasnt a conference with a set plan or outline for what was to be said, we were part of it. We were able to make comments, ask questions, and participate in recieving revelation especially for each one of us and our investigators.
There were a lot of moments when I was recieving personal revelation through the spirit but Im going to share one of my favorite parts.
Following a comment from a missionary Elder Bednar started talking to us about agency and that it is not just the hability to choose but its the freedom to act. Agency reminds us that we are all agents. What is an agent? Lets read a scripture that helps us understand... 14 And now, my sons, I speak unto you these things for your profit and learning; for there is a God, and he hath created all things, both the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are, both things to act and things to be acted upon.
Okay, are we things that act or are we things that are acted upon?
I hope you all are thinking that we are things that act. And for that reason, we are agents. Things that are acted upon would be called objects, and we are not such thing.
We as agents need to use the tools God has given us to act in an appropriate way. We have many goals and dreams in this life... atleast.. I have many goals and dreams in this life. And what I learned is that if we or I use the agency we have with its full potential, we will be able to fulfill the goals we have set.
I know that this gospel is true. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of this church and through His prophets and apostles we can know what it is that He would have us do. We need to act. And God will bless us with the desires we hold. As Elder Bednar says... "If you always do what youve always done, youll always get what youve always got"

Les quiero mucho, espero que todos estan reconociendo las manos de Dios en sus vidas. Animo!

Okay, we have a golden family. We have been teaching the Olveras family for about a month and a half and GUESS WHATTTTT, theyre getting married and baptized this saturday!!!
The changes we have seen in their lives are miraculous. Their faith is impressing and their conversion is strong. I have never seen a family so prepared to hear the gospel as they are. I know this is GOD{S work, not ours. I know HE is in this, not just on the sidelines watching.
I forgot to tell you all about fast and testimony meeting last week.
Well, bueno, Karla and Carlos were sitting behind us and then we feel a tap on the shoulder... "What would happen if we wanted to go up in front and share our testimony?" We quietly told them nothing and that they could surely do that when wanted. 5 minutes later the whole family got up, including their 3 little ones and stood at the podium. They stood there together. Not one by one, but together sharing their testimony about the Restauracion and eternal families. The whole ward was in shock and a few people let the tears fall.
I know that this is the work of the Lord, that we are His hands, but if we dont do this work as He would do it, His hands wont work. And His work will come to a speed bump.
Thank you for your constant support and love.

Okay, basically my most exciting news from this week is the fact that I was able to go to the baptism of my VERY first lesson and investigator in the mission. Her testimony is everlastingly strong and her desire to follow the Lord is endless. Seeing the fruits of the mission and all the hard work we do is a reward that can not be described. I am so grateful for the Lord and for what He has done to help Alejandra get baptized. Reading in Alma 26 (thanks Sister Deveraux for your email) reminds us of the great JOY Ammon felt while sharing this gospel and seeing the lives of people change. I can now testify of that joy.
35 Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say untoyou, there never were men that had so great reason torejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy iscarried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has allpower, all wisdom, and all understanding; hecomprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, evenunto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on hisname.

I love you all so much. Dont forget to rejoice in the little things of life.

Sorry Im super bad at emailing its just because ya know, Im free soulin´ it. Haha no just kidding. I just really like looking up talks online during my internet time...
But anyways this week was awesome. Its amazing how we study and study and study the same topics and we can always learn something new. I was able to gain a new and elevating testimony this week on the Atonement and the forgiveness part of it.
I see so many people every day with so many problems in their life, and they only need to realize one thing.....the Atonement is real. It helps us get back on our feet, it heals it, it rennovates us, it teaches us that He is the ONLY one of understand.
Sometimes we think its impossible, sometimes we think we are too weak or too unworthy. But these things are lies.

All the water in the world

No matter how it tried

Could never sink the smallest ship

Unless it got inside.

All the evil of the world

And every kind of sin

Could never damn a human soul

Unless we let it in.

I love you all so much. The mission is so important to me. With every day I realize that I have less and less time to be here. Its terrifying but I know that when my time comes, God will be with me.

I am a new person, and I hope that those from my life before the mission can see that change and be grateful and impressed by it. I hope that the people I am teaching can have a change in their lives as I have had.

They dont have to remember my name, just like we dont know any of the names of the army of Helaman, but I hope that they remember that one missionary who worked her heart off to bring the children of God unto Christ. This work is perfect. It will ALWAYS always be a part of me. I will forever be in debt to my father for allowing me to serve Him.

Also just so you all know, my companion is the bestttt and I love her to death, I dont think I will have any better companion in the mission, its close to impossible.

Con muchisimo amor,

Hna Waddell
Emi had a busy week. Only wrote to tell me that someone from their ward is going to be in Houston in April and she wants us to meet him.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life
We need to learn from the past but not live in it. We are here in this life to learn, to apply, and to progress. We have been living so many miracles lately. Sometimes we get to worried about what has happened or HASNT happened and we forget about the important things that are happening NOW. This is against the plan of God. We have to apply the Atonement in our lives so that we are able to move forward.

"When something is over and done with, when it has been repented of as fully as it can be repented of, when life has moved on as it should and a lot of other wonderfully good things have happened since then, it is not right to go back and open some ancient wound that the Son of God Himself died to heal." Elder Holland

We cant be like Lots wife, we need to trust in the Lord that our future will be okay. Dont look back longing for the past and dreading the future. Look forward with faith. The Savior gives me hope, He gives me courage, He gives me all. I love you all so much.

con mucho amor,
Hna Waddell

I got to visit my first area this week!! Tultepec in exchanges

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

One of the most important things I have learned here in the mission and continue to learn every day is rounded up in this quote by Pres. Thomas S. Monson.

"The Redeemer chose imperfect people to teach the way to perfection. He did so then. He does so now."

I have noticed a feeling of inadequacy constantly in the mission. But it makes me feel good to be reminded of the Atonement and the power it has. Not just on those we teach, but also with ourselves. It applies to everyone, always. As long as we are willing to accept it and obey our Savior. It might seem like something so simple, but every day I am able to see the impact the atonement has on me, and how much I need it. }

We were able to find so many new people this week, including one in particular (hes athiest) We saw so many miracles and we are looking forward to more. He might not believe in God, but atleast he has the desire to do so. He came to church this sunday and is preparing to be baptized. This work is only possible with the Lord on our side.

Emily was transferred to another area last weekm Bosques de lago. She is now a Sister training leader.
Dear everyone who still reads these weekly(ever other weekly) letters,
My new area is great. I aboslutely love it. Along with my new companion. We{ve only had a week together and it feels like a lifetime. My new calling is a little tiring but its so amazing because Im allowed to learn as I help others grow and learn. The miracles I see in exchanges are small but worth so much. We had a baptism this past Saturday and Pres. Titensor was able to be a part of it baptising Viridiana. It was super special and Im so excited for this decision she has made in her life. I feel like the ward has a lot of potential we just need to get them going and the work will start to flow.
A lot of people in my ward also have either been too or lived in the US so the majority know english and how to cook food from there so thats been fun! Ive gotten rib eyes, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cold slaw so its felt like home lately haha.
I hope that everyone is doing great over there. It couldnt better over here in good ole Mexico. Im enjoying every minute of it and going big before I go home. Sorry the emails short and vague, you know how it is. les quiero mucho, y ANIMO! :)

Something Ive really been focusing on this week is the mistakes we have made and continue to make, and the way we see these two things. We have an investigator who{s wife passed away about 2 years ago from cancer, and from a bad surgery that occurred. This man has such a deep sadness of confusion and anger. And not just because the loss of his wife but because of the doctor who made this mistake. He puts all of the blame on this doctor and on himself. He feels it is impossible to rid himself of this guilt. He couldnt be any more mistaken. God loves us. He is our Heavenly Father, He does not want us to suffer. He wants us to have joy, and we can recieve that joy through forgiveness.

"We must recognize that we are all imperfect—that we are beggars before God. Haven’t we all, at one time or another, meeklyapproached the mercy seat and pleaded for grace? Haven’t we wished with all the energy of our souls for mercy—to beforgiven for the mistakes we have made and the sins we have committed?

Because we all depend on the mercy of God, how can we deny to others any measure of the grace we so desperately desirefor ourselves? My beloved brothers and sisters, should we not forgive as we wish to be forgiven?" -Pres. Uchtdorf

We have all made mistakes, and we continue to do so. But when we get on our knees and plea for this sweet gift of mercy from our Father in Heaven we will grow to comprehend the great importance the Atonement of Jesus Christ more and more in our daily lives. I know without any doubt in my mind that the Atonement is real, that God forgives and He loves. And I know that this is the only way we can progress. Dont listen to the Prince of suffering, Satan, he wants you to fall while our Heavenly Father wants us to fly.

Recognize your imperfections but dont be immobilized by them.

con mucho amor,

Hna Waddell
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that like wise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and ninejust persons, which need no repentance.

we had a family home evening and it was a party haha, we played the flour game

and I had splits with my awesome sister training leader hna Borja from Paraguay!

Monday, January 19, 2015

So I know Ive been really bad with writing lately, but don't worry, Im going to do better.
This week has been full of mishaps and letdowns, while at the same time a chance for me and my investigators to build on our testimony.
I just want to share a short story on a new investigator we found. Her name is Bety and she has had a lot of trying times in her life. We went to visit her the other day and the moment she opened the door her face just lit up. Shes was more than excited to tell us about an experience she had with The Book of Mormon and prayer.
Things had been going down hill, she couldnt find work, her son was sick, shes taking care of her granddaughter because of other family problems; when she decided to take a moment to pray. When she prayed she asked for comfort and help in these trials she was passing through and then had the impression to read in the Book of Mormon. She opened to a random page and began to read. She told us with red watery eyes that the chapter she had read had been exactly what she needed in that moment. And the rest of that following night and day everything started falling into place. She knew that these blessings were from her small act of faith to pray and read the word of God.
I am in love with these moments. Seeing the faith of others grow is what causes my heart to throb every day as I am thanking God. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I know, without a drop of doubt, that God hears and answers our prayers. It has been confirmed to me constantly.
Although we have had a lot of hard times this week, its made those little things that much brighter.
Focus on the good, and search for the better.
(a scripture from the chapter she read...Moroni 7:48)
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure.Amen.

Les quiero mucho.
